But should you choose to explore outside of the property, take the stress out of life and drive to Williams, Arizona - we are only a short 30 minute drive away! We are also a 2 ½ hour drive from the Phoenix area or 3 hours from Las Vegas if you'd like to venture out a bit further. If your stay with us involves more than a few days, these adventure vacation ideas will make you return to Camp Picacho again and again!
Grand Canyon Railway
Visit the Grand Canyon aboard a vintage train on the Grand Canyon Railway. This century-old rail line leaves Williams Depot every day at 9:30 a.m. traveling through ponderosa pine forests and prairie ranch land to a spectacular destination, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. This is an all-day fun-filled trip full of surprises!

Canyon Coaster Adventure Park
The park is a new family-fun recreation park that recently opened in November 2021. It features a variety of attractions for all ages, all year round. The central attraction is a mountain coaster ride called The Canyon Coaster, which is built directly into the mountainside and spans several acres along the natural curvatures of the mountain. Here’s the kicker…the rider actually controls the speed of the coaster cart, which can reach max speeds of 30 mph. This specific type of ride is unique to Arizona, too. Canyon Coaster in Williams is the first and only mountain coaster in The Grand Canyon State!

Bearizona Wildlife Park
Pack up the family and head to Bearizona! This 160-acre drive-through wildlife park is located only two miles from downtown Williams. The adventure starts from the moment you enter the park. As you wind your way through the park you will experience bears, wolves, bighorn sheep, bison, and others. The fun isn’t over as you park your car and walk through Fort Bearizona on winding pathways for a closer look at some of the smaller animals and their babies.

Grand Canyon Deer Farm and Petting Zoo
For a more “hands-on” experience with nature’s creatures, make sure you visit the Grand Canyon Deer Farm and Petting Zoo. For over 40 years this unique park has been providing animal lovers the rare opportunity of up-close encounters with Deer, Elk, llamas, reindeer, camel, and many others! Located only 8 miles east of Williams this day trip will leave lasting memories.

Arizona Snowbowl
Ski resort located on the western slope of Mount Humphreys, the tallest point in the state, Humphreys is the most recognizable point on the San Francisco Peaks. Hit the slopes during winter whether you are skiing or snowboarding. During the summer, there are tons of activities you can partake in such as tubing, bungee trampoline, barrel rolling, and more!
